Cookie Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-31
This Cookie Policy ("Policy") explains how CariHub Business Link, operating as CariHub ("we", "us", "our"), uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit and interact with the CariHub platform ("Platform"), including our website at carihub.com, our web application, and any embedded components such as booking widgets, customer-facing booking pages, and e-signature collection pages.
This Policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which provides more general information about how we collect, use, and protect your personal data. Where this Policy conflicts with the Privacy Policy, this Policy prevails in relation to cookies and tracking technologies. This Policy is aligned with the data protection legislation of Caribbean jurisdictions, including the Data Protection Act 2011 of Trinidad and Tobago, the Data Protection Act of Jamaica, and the Data Protection Act of Barbados.
---
1. What Are Cookies
1.1 Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer, smartphone, tablet, or other device when you visit a website or use a web application. They are widely used across the internet to make websites work more efficiently, to provide a better and more personalised user experience, and to supply information to the website owners about how their services are being used.
1.2 A cookie typically contains two pieces of information: the name of the cookie (a unique identifier) and the value of the cookie (the data stored by the cookie). When you visit a website, the website sends the cookie to your browser, which stores it in a designated folder on your device. The next time you visit the same website, your browser sends the cookie back to the website's server, allowing the website to recognise your device and remember information from your previous visits.
1.3 Cookies serve various purposes depending on their type. Some are essential for the Platform to function properly, enabling features such as authentication, security, and session management. Others help us understand how the Platform is being used, remember your individual preferences and settings, and deliver content and communications that are relevant to you and your business.
1.4 In addition to traditional cookies, we may also use the following similar tracking technologies to collect information about your use of the Platform:
- Local Storage: A web browser feature that allows websites to store key-value pairs of data directly in your browser. Unlike cookies, local storage data persists even after the browser is closed and is not automatically sent to the server with every request. We use local storage for preferences that need to persist across sessions, such as your dashboard layout customisations, sidebar state, and other display preferences. Local storage data is not shared with third parties.
- Session Storage: Similar to local storage, but with the important distinction that data is cleared when the browser session ends (when you close the browser tab or window). We use session storage for temporary data that is only relevant during a single browsing session, such as form state, multi-step wizard progress, and temporary UI states.
- Pixel Tags (Web Beacons): Small, transparent images (typically 1x1 pixel GIF images) embedded in emails and web pages that allow us to track whether an email has been opened, whether a specific page has been visited, and how users interact with our communications. Pixel tags work by making a request to our servers when the email or page is rendered, allowing us to log the interaction. We use pixel tags in marketing emails sent through Resend and Brevo to measure email open rates and click-through rates, and to understand which communications are most effective for our users.
- Browser Fingerprinting: In limited circumstances, we may collect device and browser configuration information (such as screen resolution, operating system, browser version, installed fonts, and language settings) to create a composite identifier that helps us detect and prevent fraud, identify suspicious login attempts, and protect the security of your account. This fingerprinting is used solely for security purposes and does not create a persistent identifier that tracks you across websites. We do not use browser fingerprinting for advertising or marketing purposes.
2. Cookie Categories
We classify the cookies used on the Platform into four categories based on their purpose: Strictly Necessary, Functional, Analytics, and Marketing. This classification follows the framework established by the ePrivacy Directive and equivalent Caribbean data protection and electronic communications legislation.
The tables below describe each cookie we use, including its name, purpose, duration, and type (first-party or third-party, and any applicable security attributes).
2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the Platform to function properly and cannot be disabled. They enable core functionality such as security, authentication, session management, and navigation. The Platform cannot function properly without these cookies, and they are exempt from the consent requirement under applicable electronic communications legislation.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
carihub-session | Maintains your authenticated session while you are logged into the Platform. This cookie ensures that you remain logged in as you navigate between different pages and sections of the Platform. Without this cookie, you would need to log in on every page load. | Session (expires when browser is closed or after period of inactivity) | First-party, HTTP-only |
carihub-auth-token | Stores an encrypted authentication token used to verify your identity on each request to the Platform's servers. This token is issued after successful login or authentication and is validated against our secure session store. | Session or up to 7 days (with "remember me" enabled) | First-party, HTTP-only, Secure |
carihub-csrf | Stores a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) token that protects against unauthorised actions performed on your behalf by malicious websites. This security token ensures that form submissions and API requests originate from the Platform and not from a third-party site. The same short-lived, state-verification mechanism is used to secure "Sign in with Google" and, once released, the optional Google Calendar Sync feature described in our Privacy Policy §3.6.3, during the brief redirect to and from Google's own consent screen. | Session | First-party, HTTP-only |
carihub-tenant | Identifies which business tenant you are currently accessing in the multi-tenant Platform architecture. This is necessary to load the correct business data, settings, and configurations for the business you are managing. | Session | First-party, HTTP-only |
__cf_bm | Cloudflare bot management cookie used to distinguish between legitimate human visitors and automated bots. This cookie helps protect the Platform from malicious automated traffic, denial-of-service attacks, and credential stuffing attempts. | 30 minutes | Third-party (Cloudflare), HTTP-only |
cf_clearance | Cloudflare clearance cookie set after a user successfully passes a security challenge (such as a CAPTCHA). This cookie allows continued access to the Platform without requiring repeated security challenges. | 1 year | Third-party (Cloudflare), HTTP-only, Secure |
Security Attributes Explained: Cookies marked "HTTP-only" cannot be accessed by JavaScript running in your browser, which protects them from being stolen by cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks. Cookies marked "Secure" are only transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections, preventing them from being intercepted on unsecured networks.
2.2 Functional Cookies
These cookies enable the Platform to remember choices you have made (such as language, theme, or region preferences) and provide enhanced, personalised features that improve your experience. Functional cookies are not strictly necessary for the Platform to function, but the Platform provides a significantly better experience with them enabled. Functional cookies require your consent before they are set.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
carihub-preferences | Stores your user interface preferences, including theme selection (light mode or dark mode), language preference, preferred date format, time zone selection, and other display settings that customise your Platform experience. | 1 year | First-party |
carihub-locale | Remembers your selected language or locale (for example, English, Spanish, or French) so that the Platform displays content, labels, and system messages in your preferred language on subsequent visits. This is particularly relevant for Caribbean users who may operate in English, Spanish, or French depending on their island or customer base. | 1 year | First-party |
carihub-theme | Remembers your selected visual theme preference, choosing between light mode, dark mode, or following your operating system's default theme setting. This preference is applied consistently across all pages of the Platform. | 1 year | First-party |
carihub-recent-business | Remembers the most recently accessed business, allowing quick switching for users who manage or have access to multiple businesses on the Platform. This is useful for consultants, franchise operators, or business groups. | 90 days | First-party |
carihub-dashboard-layout | Stores customisations you have made to your dashboard layout, including widget arrangement, collapsed or expanded sidebar sections, and the ordering of dashboard cards and panels. | 1 year | First-party |
carihub-currency | Remembers your preferred display currency for all financial figures shown on the Platform. This is essential for Caribbean businesses that may operate in USD, TTD, JMD, BBD, or other regional currencies. | 1 year | First-party |
2.3 Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Platform by collecting and reporting information in an anonymised and aggregated manner. This data helps us improve the Platform's performance, usability, and feature design, identify areas where users encounter difficulties, and make informed decisions about product development. Analytics cookies require your consent before they are set.
We take a privacy-conscious approach to analytics. Our primary analytics solution is self-hosted and does not share individual-level data with third parties. Analytics data is processed in the aggregate and is not used to create individual user profiles.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
_carihub_anon_id | An anonymous, randomly generated identifier assigned to your device. Used to aggregate usage statistics across sessions without identifying individual users. No personal data (such as name, email, or business name) is linked to this anonymous identifier. | 2 years | First-party |
_carihub_session_count | Tracks the number of sessions from your device to understand usage frequency, new versus returning visitor ratios, and engagement patterns. All data is aggregated and anonymised before analysis. | 2 years | First-party |
_carihub_ref | Records the referring source that led you to the Platform (for example, a search engine, social media link, direct entry, or a referral from a partner business). This helps us understand how Caribbean businesses discover CariHub and which marketing channels are most effective. | 6 months | First-party |
2.4 Marketing Cookies
Marketing cookies are used to track visitors across websites and to display relevant advertisements. They may be set by us or by our advertising partners. These cookies help us and our partners deliver more relevant marketing content and measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. Marketing cookies require your explicit consent before they are set.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
_carihub_ret | Retargeting identifier used to serve relevant CariHub advertisements to users who have previously visited the Platform. For example, if you visit the pricing page but do not sign up, you may see a CariHub advertisement on other websites reminding you of our service. | 90 days | First-party |
_carihub_px | Pixel tracking identifier used to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns by recording visits to specific pages after an ad impression or click. This helps us understand which advertisements lead to sign-ups and conversions. | 1 year | First-party |
Important Note on Third-Party Marketing Cookies: We may also permit third-party marketing and advertising partners to set cookies on your device when you visit the Platform. These third-party cookies are subject to the privacy and cookie policies of the respective third parties. We currently do not use third-party advertising cookies by default, but we may introduce them in the future. If and when we do, they will only be set after you have provided explicit consent through our cookie consent banner, and they will be listed in an updated version of this Policy.
3. Third-Party Cookies
In addition to the cookies set directly by us (first-party cookies), certain cookies may be set by third-party services that operate on or through the Platform. These third-party cookies serve specific, necessary functions as described below.
3.1 Infrastructure and Security Providers
Cloudflare provides content delivery, DDoS protection, and bot management for the Platform. Cloudflare sets the cookies described in Section 2.1 (Strictly Necessary) to protect the Platform from malicious traffic and ensure reliable access for legitimate users.
3.2 Payment Gateways
When you interact with payment processing features on the Platform, whether as a business owner configuring your payment settings or as a customer making a booking payment, our payment gateway partners may set their own cookies. These cookies are set by the payment gateway's own domain and are used for the following purposes:
- (a) Maintaining secure payment sessions: Ensuring that the payment process remains secure and that the session state is maintained throughout the multi-step checkout flow.
- (b) Preventing fraudulent transactions: Analysing transaction patterns and device fingerprints to detect and prevent payment fraud, unauthorised transactions, and account takeovers.
- (c) Remembering your payment preferences: Where applicable and where you have consented, remembering your preferred payment method to streamline future transactions.
- (d) Analysing transaction patterns: Aggregated, anonymised analysis of transaction success rates, error patterns, and payment method preferences to improve the payment experience.
Payment gateway cookies are set only when you interact with payment features and are subject to the respective privacy and cookie policies of the payment gateway providers. Common payment gateway cookies include:
| Provider | Cookie(s) | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid | Manages payment sessions, prevents fraud during checkout, and maintains payment state across the checkout flow |
| Fygaro | Fygaro session cookies | Maintains a secure payment session during the Fygaro checkout flow for Caribbean card and bank payments |
| LuniPay | LuniPay session cookies | Maintains a secure payment session during the LuniPay checkout flow for Jamaican and regional payments |
| PayWise | PayWise session cookies | Maintains a secure payment session during the PayWise checkout flow for Trinidad and Tobago payments |
Please note that payment gateway cookies are generally considered essential for the payment process to function and may be set without additional consent when you initiate a payment transaction. However, you can manage your overall cookie preferences as described in Section 4.
3.3 Embedded Booking Widgets
When a CariHub business embeds our booking widget on their own website or social media page, the widget loads within an iframe from our domain. This means that cookies described in this Policy (particularly Strictly Necessary and Functional cookies) may be set on the visitor's device even when they are interacting with the widget on a third-party website. These cookies are necessary for the booking widget to function (for example, to maintain the booking session, store the selected service, and process the booking submission).
3.4 Email Tracking Pixels
When we send emails through Resend or Brevo (such as booking confirmations, marketing campaigns, or system notifications), these emails may contain tracking pixels. When you open the email, the pixel sends a signal to our email provider, allowing us to track open rates. This is not technically a cookie but functions similarly for the purpose of measuring communication effectiveness. You can disable image loading in your email client to prevent pixel tracking.
3.5 Embedded Content and Integrations
If the Platform includes embedded content from third-party services (such as embedded maps showing business locations, social media widgets, video players for tutorial content, or third-party review widgets), those services may set their own cookies on your device. We do not control these third-party cookies and recommend reviewing the cookie policies of the relevant third-party services. We seek to minimise the use of embedded third-party content that sets cookies.
4. How to Manage Cookies
4.1 Our Cookie Consent Banner
When you first visit the Platform, we display a cookie consent banner that allows you to make an informed choice about which cookies you accept. The consent banner offers the following options:
- (a) Accept All Cookies: Accept all cookie categories, including Strictly Necessary, Functional, Analytics, and Marketing cookies. This provides the best experience and enables all Platform features.
- (b) Accept Selected: Choose which non-essential cookie categories (Functional, Analytics, Marketing) you wish to accept. You can toggle each category on or off independently. Strictly Necessary cookies cannot be declined, as they are required for the Platform to function and are exempt from consent requirements.
- (c) Decline Optional Cookies: Decline all non-essential cookies, retaining only Strictly Necessary cookies. In this mode, the Platform will still function but without personalisation features and without contributing to our analytics and marketing measurement.
4.1.1 Your cookie preferences are saved in a cookie on your device, so they will be remembered on subsequent visits. If you clear your browser cookies, your preferences will be reset and the consent banner may appear again.
4.1.2 You can change your cookie preferences at any time, not just on your first visit. A cookie settings link is available in the Platform's footer on every page, and you can also access cookie settings through your account settings menu.
4.1.3 If you are using the Platform on multiple devices or browsers, you will need to set your cookie preferences on each device and browser separately.
4.2 Browser Settings
In addition to our consent banner, you can manage cookies through your web browser's settings. Most modern browsers allow you to perform the following actions:
- (a) View cookies: See a list of all cookies stored on your device, along with their name, value, domain, and expiration date.
- (b) Delete individual cookies: Remove specific cookies while keeping others.
- (c) Delete all cookies: Clear all cookies stored on your device. This will sign you out of the Platform and may reset some preferences.
- (d) Block cookies from specific websites: Prevent cookies from being set by particular websites.
- (e) Block all cookies: Prevent any website from setting cookies on your device. Warning: This will significantly impair the functionality of the Platform and most other websites. You will not be able to log in or use most Platform features.
- (f) Block third-party cookies only: Allow first-party cookies from carihub.com while blocking cookies from third-party domains. This is a good middle-ground option that preserves Platform functionality while limiting cross-site tracking.
- (g) Set your browser to notify you when a cookie is being set: This will display a prompt each time a website attempts to set a cookie, giving you the choice to accept or decline. This can be intrusive for general browsing but is useful for understanding cookie usage.
- (h) Block cookies from specific third-party services: Some browsers allow you to block cookies from specific domains, such as advertising networks or analytics providers.
Important: Blocking or deleting certain cookies may affect the functionality of the Platform. Specifically:
- Blocking Strictly Necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in, maintaining sessions, and using the Platform.
- Blocking Functional cookies will cause your preferences (theme, language, currency, layout) to reset each time you visit.
- Blocking Analytics cookies will not affect Platform functionality but will prevent us from understanding and improving user experience.
- Blocking Marketing cookies will not affect Platform functionality but may result in seeing less relevant advertisements.

- For other third-party services not listed here, please consult their respective privacy and cookie policies for opt-out information. You can typically find these by searching for "[service name] cookie policy" or "[service name] opt out."
4.5 "Do Not Track" Signals
Some web browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) header or signal to websites, indicating that the user prefers not to be tracked online. We currently do not respond to DNT signals in a technical sense, because there is no universally adopted standard for how websites should interpret and act on DNT signals, and different browsers implement DNT differently. Instead, we rely on our explicit cookie consent banner to respect your preferences regarding tracking and cookie usage. If you do not wish to be tracked, we recommend using the consent banner to decline Analytics and Marketing cookies.
4.6 Global Privacy Controls
Some browsers and browser extensions support Global Privacy Control (GPC), a standardised signal that communicates a user's privacy preferences to websites. We recognise GPC signals as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and the use of personal information for targeted advertising. When we detect a GPC signal, we will treat it as if you have declined Marketing cookies through our consent banner.
4.7 Cookie Consent Storage
This Section 4.7 discloses how your cookie consent preferences are stored on your device.
4.7.1 Storage Mechanism. When you interact with the cookie consent banner described in Section 4.1 and choose to accept all cookies, accept selected categories, or decline optional cookies, your consent preferences are stored in your browser's localStorage under the key carihub-cookie-consent. We use localStorage (rather than a traditional cookie) for the following reasons:
- (a) Persistence across sessions. localStorage data persists across browser sessions and is not deleted when the browser is closed (unlike session cookies), allowing your consent preferences to be remembered on subsequent visits without requiring you to re-consent each time.
- (b) No automatic server transmission. localStorage data is not automatically transmitted to our servers with every HTTP request (unlike cookies). Your consent preferences remain on your device and are accessed only by the JavaScript code that runs in your browser when the consent banner needs to determine which cookies to allow.
- (c) Larger storage capacity. localStorage permits a larger data payload than cookies, allowing us to store structured consent data (including the timestamp of consent, the categories selected, and the consent version) without consuming cookie header bandwidth on every request.
4.7.2 Storage Duration. The carihub-cookie-consent localStorage entry is retained for a period of 365 days from the date on which you last set your consent preferences. After 365 days, the entry is considered expired and the cookie consent banner will be re-displayed on your next visit, prompting you to re-consent. If you re-consent before the 365-day period expires, the 365-day clock is reset from the date of your new consent.
4.7.3 No Server-Side Consent Record for Anonymous Visitors. CariHub does not currently maintain a server-side consent record for anonymous visitors (that is, visitors who have not signed in to a CariHub account). Your cookie consent preferences exist solely in your browser's localStorage and are not transmitted to, or stored on, our servers. If you clear your browser's localStorage (or use a browser feature such as "Clear browsing data" that removes site data), your consent preferences will be deleted and the cookie consent banner will reappear on your next visit. For signed-in users, the Platform may, in a future version of this Policy, record cookie consent preferences server-side and synchronise them across devices; this Section 4.7.3 will be updated to reflect any such change.
4.7.4 Consent Categories. The carihub-cookie-consent localStorage entry records your consent decision for each of the following four consent categories, which correspond to the four cookie categories described in Section 2 of this Policy:
| Category | Default State | User-Adjustable | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Always on | No (cannot be disabled) | Strictly Necessary cookies as described in Section 2.1. These cookies are essential for the Platform to function (authentication, session management, security, fraud prevention) and are exempt from the consent requirement under applicable electronic communications legislation. The consent banner does not present a toggle for this category because consent is not required. |
| Functional | On (consented) | Yes | Functional cookies as described in Section 2.2 (preferences, theme, language, currency, dashboard layout). These cookies are enabled by default when you click "Accept All Cookies". If you use "Accept Selected", you may toggle this category off. |
| Analytics | Off (not consented) | Yes | Analytics cookies as described in Section 2.3 (anonymous usage statistics, session counts, referrer tracking). These cookies are not enabled by default. They are enabled only if you click "Accept All Cookies" or if you use "Accept Selected" and explicitly toggle this category on. |
| Marketing | Off (not consented) | Yes | Marketing cookies as described in Section 2.4 (retargeting, pixel tracking). These cookies are not enabled by default. They are enabled only if you click "Accept All Cookies" or if you use "Accept Selected" and explicitly toggle this category on. |
4.7.5 Re-Giving Consent. You may re-give or modify your cookie consent preferences at any time, not only when the consent banner is displayed. To re-give consent:
- (a) Click the "Cookie Settings" link in the Platform's footer on any page; this re-opens the consent banner with your previously saved preferences pre-loaded, allowing you to modify your selections and save the new preferences.
- (b) Clear the
carihub-cookie-consententry from your browser's localStorage (through your browser's developer tools or through the "Clear browsing data" feature). On your next visit, the consent banner will reappear, and you may make a fresh consent decision. - (c) Wait for the 365-day storage duration to expire. After 365 days from your last consent, the consent banner will automatically reappear on your next visit, prompting you to re-consent.
Re-giving consent replaces the existing carihub-cookie-consent entry with a new entry (containing the new consent decisions and a fresh 365-day expiry timestamp). The previous consent entry is not retained.
4.7.6 Cross-Device and Cross-Browser Behaviour. Because cookie consent preferences are stored locally in your browser's localStorage, your consent decisions apply only to the specific browser and device on which you made them. If you use the Platform on multiple devices (e.g., a desktop computer and a mobile phone) or multiple browsers (e.g., Chrome and Safari), you will need to set your cookie consent preferences separately on each device and browser. There is currently no mechanism to synchronise cookie consent preferences across devices or browsers.
5. Cookie Lifespan and Storage
5.1 Cookies can be categorised by their lifespan into two types:
- Session Cookies: These are temporary cookies that are stored in your browser's memory and are deleted when you close your browser window or tab, or after a period of inactivity (typically 30 minutes to 2 hours). Most of our Strictly Necessary cookies are session cookies because they are only needed during an active browsing session. Session cookies cannot be used to track you over extended periods.
- Persistent Cookies: These cookies are stored on your device's hard drive (or equivalent storage) and remain there for a set period (the "expiration date") or until you manually delete them. Functional, Analytics, and Marketing cookies are typically persistent cookies because they need to remember your preferences or track usage patterns across multiple visits and sessions.
5.2 The specific duration of each cookie is listed in the tables in Section 2 of this Policy. We set cookie durations based on the purpose of the cookie, balancing the need to provide a good user experience with respect for your privacy. We review cookie durations periodically and may adjust them as needed.
5.3 We do not use cookies with a lifespan exceeding two (2) years, except where strictly necessary for security purposes (such as Cloudflare clearance cookies, which help prevent you from having to repeatedly complete security challenges) or as required by a third-party service over which we have limited control.
5.4 When a cookie reaches its expiration date, it is automatically deleted by your browser. You can also manually delete cookies at any time through your browser settings, as described in Section 4.2. Deleting cookies will sign you out of the Platform and may reset your preferences.
5.5 We store a maximum of approximately twenty (20) first-party cookies on your device at any given time, depending on which features you are using. The total data stored in cookies is minimal, typically well under 10 kilobytes, which has no noticeable impact on your device's performance or storage.
6. Changes to This Cookie Policy
6.1 We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, the introduction of new tracking technologies, changes in our service offerings, changes in technology standards, or changes in legal requirements across Caribbean jurisdictions.
6.2 We will provide reasonable notice of material changes by:
- (a) Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Policy.
- (b) Where the changes involve the introduction of new cookie categories or third-party cookie providers, updating the cookie consent banner to reflect the changes and, where appropriate, re-presenting the banner to obtain fresh consent.
- (c) Sending an email notification to registered users for significant changes.
6.3 We encourage you to review this Cookie Policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies and tracking technologies. You can check the "Last Updated" date at the top to see when this Policy was last revised.
6.4 If we make changes that would require you to re-consent to cookie usage (for example, introducing a new category of cookies or a new third-party analytics provider), we will present the consent banner again on your next visit before the new cookies are set.
6.5 Continued use of the Platform after any changes to this Cookie Policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy. If you do not agree with the changes, you may clear your cookies and adjust your consent preferences through the cookie settings.
